Usually 18 months

For graduates whose qualification and skills relate to an eligible skilled occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).

  • Skills assessment may be required.
  • Occupation must be on the relevant skilled occupation list (MLTSSL).
  • Suitable for trade, diploma and selected degree graduates.

Post-Higher Education Work

Usually 2–4 years

The most common stream for recent Australian Higher Education graduates based on their qualification level.

  • No skills assessment is usually required.
  • No occupation list requirement.
  • Suitable for Bachelor, Master and PhD graduates.

Second Post-Higher Education Work

Usually 1–2 additional years

For eligible 485 visa holders who studied, lived or worked in a designated regional area.
